Designing a landing page properly is important. If not done properly, it will bounce off users and you wouldn’t be able to convert or place them in your business funnel. Earlier when I had to design a landing page, I’d have nothing to start off. So, as an amateur designer, I’d design a piece of art, putting every pixel of creativity and spending hours in perfection, Which later though got appreciated but ended up getting rejected. Reason being, the page wouldn’t communicate the product/business. So over the years of learning from the mistakes and observing hundreds of landing pages of various products and business, I came up with a list of questions which I always ask or try to know whenever a landing page has to be designed.

1. What is the product/business? Describe it in 3 words or one sentence.
This is the first message a product/business tells when a user lands on their website. This helps a user understand whether the product is useful for them or else.

2. What is your product/business’ ultimate power?
This is the one thing that your product do best. Alternatively, this can be some advantage that you have over your competitors. It can be a feature or anything that grabs the attention of landing users.

3. List the advantages of your product/business.
These are the things that your users would care about. This will decide whether a certain person visiting your website will stay or leave.

4. Any other feature(s) that can benefit the user?

5. Do you have any testimonials to present? If not, can we get some?
Testimonials are a social proof of the success of your product. So having one that looks and sounds legit creates a big difference.

By asking certain questions before hopping into design you would have an idea about what the product/business wants to communicate with the user. Based on the above information you could start your design process.
